Here are the recipe ideas to stimulate your creativity:
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Now this is probably a pizza flavor you’ve heard of, but have never tried. Because it uses barbecue sauce, it is definitely a step away from a traditional tomato sauce pie, but it still tastes delicious!
Everyone loves barbecue, what’s wrong with putting it on a pizza? Here’s what you’ll need to make a BBQ chicken pizza:
- Cooked, shredded chicken
- Barbecue sauce
- Onions (white or red works great!)
- Mozzarella cheese
The saltiness of the mozzarella plays very well off the sweet flavors of the barbecue sauce, making a nice sweet and savory combination. Adding some sliced onions is an excellent way to add a nice crunch to the mix, making a very bright flavor in the mouth.
If you love pizza, then you probably love tacos too! But have you ever considered combining the two? If you can have a cheeseburger pizza, you can definitely have a taco pizza, right? Right!
Featuring all the delicious Mexican flavors and ingredients you’ll find in a taco, a taco pizza is quite a unique pie! We recommend using the following toppings:
- Ground beef, browned and seasoned
- Taco seasoning
- Beans (refried or black)
- Cheddar cheese
- Tomatoes (diced small)
- Lettuce, shredded
- Sour cream
Before baking the pizza, cook the ground beef and taco seasoning in a skillet until browned. Don’t add salsa or sour cream until after the pizza is finished! You can also add the tomatoes and lettuce at the end, creating a combination of hot and cold ingredients, much like a taco!
Surf and Turf (Shrimp + Bacon) Pizza
The next pizza in this list you probably haven’t seen before, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious! Combining flavors of the ocean and land, you have a tried and tested combo that works well.
Shrimp and bacon find themselves paired together in many dishes, simply because the saltiness of bacon plays well off the subtle flavors of shrimp. This is a fairly straightforward recipe and can be made with a red or white sauce.
- Shrimp, de-shelled and cooked
- Bacon, cooked and chopped
- Mozzarella cheese
If you’ve ever had spaghetti carbonara, this is influenced by that dish!
While you can prepare this pizza with tomato sauce, it is much richer with a creamy alfredo sauce. If you’re really feeling adventurous, you could even throw some noodles onto the pizza!
White Mushroom Garlic Pizza
The white mushroom garlic pizza is probably the tastiest one on this list.
It uses a creamy, garlic alfredo sauce as the base rather than a tomato sauce. It then piles on delicious sauteed mushrooms, spinach, and garlic for a delicious, lighter take on pizza.
- Crimini mushrooms
- Garlic cloves, minced
- Mozzarella cheese
You’ll want to saute the mushrooms before putting them on the pizza. Use some oregano, thyme, pepper, and plenty of butter to give them a flavor that really pops! You can buy canned alfredo sauce or make some of your own!
Generously spread your garlic on the pie and enjoy!
Fresh & Simple Pesto Pizza
Now, if you want to completely flip the tables on traditional pizza, swap out your red sauce for a hearty green pesto sauce.
The point of a simple pesto pizza is to highlight the flavors of the basic ingredients used while adding a kick through use of basil pesto. It makes for a very light pizza, opting not to use any meat. Here’s what you should use for a pesto pizza:
- Mozzarella cheese (whole)
- Tomatoes (on the vine, sliced large)
Tomatoes and mozzarella are nothing new, but how they’re prepared is a little different. You’ll want to cut the mozzarella and tomatoes into large slices, placing those directly on the pizza. This allows you to appreciate the individual flavor of the mozzarella and tomato, without being muddled by several other toppings.
Use a Cast Elegance Pizza Stone!
Now anyone can make a pizza on this list, but, for it to be truly delicious with a perfectly crispy crust, you need a pizza stone.
Pizza stones are flat slabs of material made of ceramic or other minerals. They’re shaped like a pizza and are what you’ll actually place your pizza onto when you place it in the oven!
When you cook your pizza on a pizza stone, it does a few important things to really improve the quality of your pie. First, through preheating a pizza stone prior to cooking, you’re creating a surface matching the temperature of the oven that will directly touch your pizza, which allows the pie to cook evenly.
Second, a pizza stone is porous, so it absorbs moisture in the crust of your pizza, eliminating soggy crusts and leaving only golden-brown, crispy crusts!
It also allows your pizza to cook quickly with heat being directly applied where it is needed. You do have to wait for your pizza stone to preheat first, but if you heat it at the same time as the oven, you won’t even notice a difference!
Whether you’re a pizza aficionado or a novice tosser, anyone can become a pizza pro through the use of a pizza stone! No longer do you have to wonder why your pizzas don’t taste like a restaurant’s pizza!
You probably don’t have a wood-fired brick oven to bake with, but a pizza stone can create a similar cooking environment. Find the Cast Elegance pizza stone here, and stock up on some ingredients for some creative, flavorful pizzas!
